A lifelong seeker, writer, adventurer, and mystic, Valley uses writing to heal and transform her life, and she loves guiding others on the path of using writing to change their lives, too.
Fascinated with how writing changes our personal energetics and the energetics of the group writing experience, Valley immersed herself in energy work, becoming a Reiki Master, a Shamanic Reiki Practitioner, a spiritual coach, and a somatic movement facilitator.
She has found that words grow in truth, resonance, beauty and power when infused with the magic of energy work, symbols, mystical traditions, and other flavors of spiritual medicine.
Valley has had a beautiful, magical, hard, intense, heartbreaking, gritty, adventurous, transformational, mythical life. She is passionate about writing because she wants to capture every single moment of it.
Valley is the author of The Halfway House for Writers, Surrender Your Weapons: Writing to Heal, There’s No Accounting for the Strangeness of Things, The True Story Workbook and The Sacred Circle Writing Oracle.
An award winning writing teacher of 20 years, she leads local and international retreats, coaches one on one, and leads group writing experiences for students of all ages and every walk of life, recovery centers, nonprofits, and spiritual gatherings.
Valley has written with children, teenagers, adults, and elders, clergy, therapists, addicts, and trauma survivors. As a dedicated lifelong reader and writer, she has a passion for helping people find themselves within their stories, to find their voice, their perspective, and their power.
She is continuously in awe of the power and emotion and beauty of the stories of her students. She feels each class is a once-in-a-lifetime piece of performance art, stunning in its perfection, and can never be repeated the same way again.
She celebrates every aspect of a student's writing, embracing the entire spectrum of the human experience.
